Mastermind is the alias used by several characters in Marvel Comics, most notably Jason Wyngarde. He is a mutant with the power to create illusions that can be extremely realistic and affect people's minds.
Wyngarde first appeared as a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, serving under Magneto. He often used his illusionary powers to deceive and manipulate both enemies and allies. His illusions could be so powerful that they could alter memories and perceptions.
One of Mastermind's most significant acts was his manipulation of Jean Grey, then known as Marvel Girl. He used his powers to create a fantasy world for her, slowly corrupting her and ultimately transforming her into the Dark Phoenix. This corruption had profound and lasting consequences for the X-Men.
Mastermind has since died but his daughters, Martinique Jason and Regan Wyngarde, both have inherited his illusionary powers, also take on the title of Mastermind.
